450 Square Inch Hamster Cage

Providing a spacious and comfortable cage for your hamster is crucial for its well-being. Today, I’m going to recommend some of the best 450-square-inch (258-square-centimeter) hamster cages perfect for dwarf and Syrian hamsters.

The best 450-square-inch (258-sq cm) hamster cage is the Duna Space Extra Deep enclosure which features a lot of bottom space for digging. OIIBO’s 40-gallon (151-kg) cage is a high-quality glass enclosure; however, it’s rather costly. Ferplast Duna is a solid, affordable choice that includes many accessories.

Read on to find out which 450-square-inch (258-square-centimeter) hamster cages are worth buying and get comprehensive recommendations on picking the perfect cage for your pet.

Among 450-square-inch (258-square-centimeter) hamster cages, Duna Space definitely stands out thanks to its two-level design. The enclosure provides plenty of space for a small hamster while remaining compact and easily portable.

The idea behind the two floors of the cage is to provide a decent opportunity for digging. Hamsters are digging animals, which often gets overlooked by cage manufacturers. With this enclosure, there’s plenty of room to dig down and explore.

The cage is relatively easy to disassemble and clean. The clear walls and wire allows for convenient observation of your hamster and seeing when there’s a need for cleaning. Overall, this enclosure will be easy to maintain, which is a big plus.

Another significant benefit is it comes with all the necessary accessories for your hamster’s comfort. Considering its price, the cage is great value for money.

The only downside, however, is the provided wheel is very small. This is a common issue with built-in hamster wheels: most of the time, they require replacement, as even the smallest hamster won’t be comfortable using them.

Best Quality: OIIBO 40 Gallon Glass Hamster Cage

This 450-square-inch (258-square-centimeter) cage from OIIBO offers excellent quality and is likely to serve you well for years to come. While 450 inches of floor space do not make a particularly large cage, this one organizes space perfectly: it’s tall, allowing for many accessories to freely fit in, and features a 7-inch (18 cm) bottom for digging.

The enclosure is a combination of two chew-proof materials: wire and glass. You will be able to watch your hamster freely and won’t have to worry about it chewing through the walls. The construction also allows for the convenient placement of toys and accessories.

The wiring on top and side walls ensures nice air circulation. The front wall features two glass doors with a safe locking mechanism that prevents your hamster from escaping. You will find the doors very convenient for cleaning the cage, feeding, and interacting with your hamster. A top door is included as well.

Despite such unique construction features, the cage is easy to assemble or disassemble if needed. Overall, the product is of excellent quality and will make a great home for your pet.

The reason it’s not my number one recommendation is the very high price. Considering accessories are not included and have to be purchased separately, it’s hard to suggest this enclosure freely. Still, if you’re willing to invest more in a durable product, OIIBO’s cage is a great choice.

Description

  • wire walls and glass doors

  • quality ventilation system
  • chew-proof materials
  • easy to assemble

  • very expensive
  • doesn’t include accessories

Ferplast Duna is an affordable, easy-maintenance, and fun cage for your pet.

You will find that this enclosure is easy to keep clean: the top can be removed effortlessly, allowing for thorough cleaning of your hamster’s living space. A big top door will provide you with convenient access to the inside of the cage.

Despite being the most budget-friendly option on this list, the cage comes with all essentials: a bowl, a water bottle, a small house, and tubes. A wheel is included, too; however, it’s rather small, and I would highly advise against using it to spare your pet severe back pains.

Another disadvantage is the primary material of the cage is plastic, which is not a non-chewable material. If left unattended, the hamster can chew through it. That aside, the cage is a decent choice and good value for money.

Description

  • dimensions: 21.65 x 18.5 x 14.76 inches (55 x 47 x 37.5 cm)
  • material: plastic
  • a variety of accessories included

Pros

  • budget-friendly
  • easy to clean
  • comes with all the necessary accessories

Cons

  • small wheel
  • your hamster can chew through plastic

Final Thoughts

For good quality, a decent number of included accessories, sufficient digging space, and ease of use, I recommend the Duna Space Extra Deep hamster cage. It offers the best price-to-quality ratio among 450-square-inch (258-square-centimeter) cages.

A rather expensive but high-quality choice is OIIBO’s 40-gallon (151-kg) enclosure with wire walls and large glass doors in the front. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly pick, I advise purchasing Ferplast Duna, which includes all essentials for your pet’s comfort.
